Utah Temples Tour

August 30, 2008 by rickety 14 Comments

Utah Temples on Google Maps
Utah has eleven temples with two more under construction. I am planning a road trip to visit all the Utah temples, including those under construction. By the time I get going perhaps the temples being built will be finished. I am considering going through a session at each temple, except of course those under construction.

Bountiful Temple. Jordan River Temple.
Manti Temple. Monticello Temple.
Ogden Temple. Provo Temple.
Mount Timpanogos Temple. Vernal Temple.

These are my destination temples. I need to plan the route and the times so that I don’t arrive at a temple when it is closed. If anyone wants to come along we can work out the car pooling and the dates once I have a head count. Remember that we will be stopping by the two temples that are under construction.

Logan Temple. Salt Lake Temple. St. George Temple.

The first thing to do is to plan the route. The starting point is Kaysville. One route would be to head north and pick up Ogden and Logan. Then south to visit the six temples (two under construction) grouped together south of Kaysville. That leaves Vernal, Manti, Monticello, and St. George with the most distance to cover. I will have to look at the map to see the best route for those. I will post some photographs of the temples when I return. If you have a route planned or want to go on the trip communicate so in the comments.

Update

Five of us actually went in October on our Utah Temples Tour.

It looks like it may take four days if we are taking in a session at each temple. However, the first day begins and ends in Kaysville so some people can opt to participate in one or two legs of the trip. More details to follow.

I am so with you on this one. I have tried to talk my family into doing this very thing as the summer vacation. Taking weekends and going to the ones that are further away and staying overnight. The ones close to home we could go to perhaps on Friday nights and then out to dinner. the issue becomes all of our children. I think there is 24 children and we use each other for the babysitting. That could become a real issue. None of them are old enough to do the babysitting themselves of the others.

I am considering a California Temples Tour this year. The seven temples line up north to south very well. Turns out that the Reno and Las Vegas temples can also be visited on the way to California and on the return. I didn’t go with my whole family to the Utah temples, just those who wanted to come. My wife stayed behind because my daughter was close to having her baby.
