Wallpaper Change

May 29, 2008 by rickety Leave a Comment

Paul overheard Jill say that she wanted to change the wallpaper on the stairs. So Paul started ripping it off. When Mike and Christopher arrived, Christopher joined Daniel and Paul, along with Sean Huggins and Tyler Stout (not shown) in the project.

Memorial Day 2008

Ready to topple the tree

We trimmed the tree and dug around the roots before pulling on the chain.

Memorial Day found our family in Brigham City ready to work in my father-in-law’s yard. It was rainy heavily when we arrived so we sat in the living room thinking we wouldn’t be able to tackle the yard. There was a tree to uproot so Paul and Steven went out to examine it in the rain. Soon we were all out there pulling it over with a chain. The Ward’s were helping as well as the spouses of the children of both families. I didn’t think we would be able to pull the tree out but we did. After that we trimmed hedges, emptied a large fish pond, planted flowers, and generally cleaned up.

Steven tackles the tree and that is Derek on the left. Paul is working behind Steven.

Here are Steven (left) and Paul digging at the roots.

Jill takes the video of the fallen tree. Paul gets at the roots again so we can pull it all the way out.

Later we celebrated Jill’s birthday and some of us went to the cemetery.

Senior Banquet

May 22, 2008 by rickety Leave a Comment

Thursday 22nd may was the Senior Banquet in the Utah Kaysville South Stake. Daniel graduated from Davis High so the stake feeds the graduates and parents every year. While we are there a slideshow projects current photographs of the seniors and then a baby picture.

Daniel leads in the 4x400 relay
This photograph was taken by my brother showing Daniel leading the third leg of the 4×400 relay, the last race of the Utah State Championships Saturday 17th May 2008. His relay team won again this year and Davis High boys won the championship with 110 points. Second place went to Viewmont with 68 points. The Davis High girls took second. This photograph is one of my favorites.

Oquirrh Mountain Temple

Oquirrh Mountain Temple Construction
I was traveling back from a vacation in Zion National Park with my brother Mike taking him home along Bangerter Highway. I saw the Oquirrh Mountain temple under construction so I exited and took this photograph. It is located on a rise just off the highway so the temple is going to be quite a sight when it is illuminated at night.

Zions Vacation

Beginning Zions Vacation

Monday 12th May 2008 found Jill, Paul, me, Adelaide, and Steven ready to set off for a few days of vacation. We were leaving zion and heading for Zion. We left Kaysville (zion) to stop by West Jordan (not zion) to pick up my brother Mike. Onward then to Zion National Park for some camping and hiking. Mike and I had hard duty in securing and staying in motel rooms in case it rained.

We took a lot of photographs but here are just a few so you get a flavor of what we did.

On our trip down at Scipio it started to snow so those motel rooms were looking very desirable. The snow cleared by the time we got to Zion.

Here are some of the peaks that we were running all over for a few days. Here is a video of the trail to Angels Landing. Jill led the way to the Emerald Pools (video).

Taking our own picture ready for an assault on the nearest peak. Left to right: Paul, Mike, Jill, Adelaide, Steven, and Rick.

Steven is about to ascent the final leg of Angels Landing. The wind was up and that added to the experience.

The hottub at Hurrican Comfort Inn

Unfortunately some of us drew the short straws and were forced to check out the facilities at Camp Comfort.
