Aurora Turns One

February 14, 2010 by rickety 3 Comments

My granddaughter Aurora turned one this month and the family gathered at Steven and Adelaide’s home for a celebration. In the video of Aurora she is sitting on her mother’s lap opening presents. Her great grandfather is sitting under the flash umbrella and Steven, her father, is the one in the green T-shirt. Grandmother Jill is operating the camcorder. Grandpa Rick is filming the video. Click on the photographs for a larger image.

Happy first birthday Aurora!

Steven Celebrates Birthday At Lone Star

November 12, 2009 by rickety 1 Comment

In November Steven celebrated his birthday with a meal at the Layton Lone Star Steakhouse. Well big deal y’all may be thinking. But for us it was a chance to get together, take some photographs, and eat some great food. Steven loves steak so he came to the right place. For family and friends who weren’t there, here are a few photographs.

Jill and I were taking the photographs so we were out of the picture. Click on the images for greater resolution.

Happy Birthday Grandpa!

Bryson wishes me Happy Birthday

It was my birthday this week and in the email from Texas came a message from Bryson. Fortunately I was able to read it before it was eaten, or rather sucked to death.

Since Derek, Sarah, and Bryson moved to Texas we have kept in touch via webcam. For a week in March some of us will visit Texas, a trip we are looking forward to.

Birthday Celebration: Steven

On Monday we celebrated Steven’s birthday at our Family Home Evening. Jill, Paul, Jake, Steven, Adelaide, Sarah, Derek, Bryson, and myself were there. After the Family Home Evening we blew up balloons, tossed them in the air, and then burst them. It sounds a little pointless but it was a lot of fun. We gave Steven his presents and then ate cake and ice-cream.

Birthday Celebration: Adelaide

Reed Sprague graciously invited us to join in celebrating Adelaide’s 24th birthday with their extended family. We congregated at the Barnes Park Bowery on Saturday afternoon. Before we ate, the younger elements played an obscure rickety ball game that they seemed to enjoy. They worked up an appetite for the great potluck meal.

After we had eaten, six couples played water balloon volleyball. Watch out, the spectators were in the line of fire! Lots of water-filled balloons were tossed back and forth with some taking extra effort to break. Of course, the object of the game was to catch the balloons with the towel and then be coordinated enough to throw it back.

A new baby was there for everyone to enjoy. Birthday cake for dessert and pleasant afternoon weather. Happy birthday Adelaide!

Square Meal

June 4, 2008 by rickety 2 Comments

Last Sunday we went to Steven and Adelaide’s home to celebrate Jill’s birthday with a meal made by Adelaide, our daughter-in-law. It was great food and all served on square plates. It is Paul’s first square meal in quite awhile.

Jill’s birthday

May 31, 2008 by rickety 3 Comments

Today is Jill’s birthday. We celebrated with the family on Memorial Day so there was only one gift today (from me). A 4GB Creative Zen so that Jill can listen to audio books while she is riding FrontRunner to work. I picked the Zen because it has bookmarks which a lot of mp3 players do not have.
