Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple

Dimensions: A single copper-clad spire soaring to a height of 193 feet, topped by a 9-foot statue of the angel Moroni.
Groundbreaking, site dedication: 16 December 2006, by President Gordon B. Hinckley.
Dedication: 22-23 August 2009.

Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple Impressions

The first two photographs were taken on 16 May 2008 and the remaining on 14 October 2008. In May I was traveling back from a vacation in Zion National Park with my brother Mike taking him home along Bangerter Highway. I saw the Oquirrh Mountain temple under construction so I exited and took the photographs. It didn’t look much like a temple except that it was on a hill. If the yellow material is insulation, I wonder why the spire has to be insulated? By October I could see that Moroni was already in place and all the yellow material was gone. Perhaps it was protective wrapping.

The temple sits prominently on a hill and will been seen across the countryside when it opens. Being right off an exit of Bangerter Highway will give patrons easy access.
