So they loaded up the truck and they moved to Kaysville

Paul moving furniture

Derek and Sarah have been back from Texas since June and staying with family. Yesterday it was time for them to move back into their own home. We loaded the truck and trailer with their belongings that were stored with Steven and Adelaide. The photograph of Paul reminds me of a television show I used to watch a few years ago. … [Read more...]

Fireworks

Fireworks

Saturday we had family over for a meal. Afterwards we set off a few fireworks in daylight so that Bryson and Aurora wouldn't be frightened of them. Steven lit one of the racing car fireworks which got too close to Adelaide and Aurora. It frightened Aurora, so before Steven lit the next firework, Adelaide moved herself and Aurora to the opposite end of the patio and sat between me and Jake. Now that … [Read more...]

On Tuesday I went with family to the Days of ‘47 Float Preview Party at the South Towne Expo Center. You could meet the creators and technicians behind the 2010 Days of ‘47 Parade floats and see how it all comes together. There was voting for your favorite float to win the “People’s Choice” or the “Children’s Choice” award. Also enjoy bands, clowns, and entertainment. Admission was … [Read more...]

All Is Well In Kaysville Again

Jake and Rachel at the budget hearing

All is well in Kaysville again for me but maybe not for many others. I went to the Kaysville City budget hearing this evening, as suggested by Mayor Steve Hiatt, to request that the electricity billing be improved. Jake and Rachel came with me to lend support. We arrived early before most people showed up. Eventually there were around 80 people in attendance, three-quarters of them Kaysville City … [Read more...]

A Kaysville City Annoyance

Kaysville City meter readings

There are some annoyances in life that are minor enough to be ignored. They don't bother me at all unless I am reminded of them, and even then I forget about them quickly. One such annoyance is my Kaysville City Utilities Service Bill. Although my utility bill arrives promptly each month it is just four times a year that the aggravation arises. To be specific it is the billing for the December, … [Read more...]

Bryson Returns to Utah

Bryson with toys

Bryson returns to Utah. Sarah flew from Texas and dropped him off with Jill in Salt Lake City. She then got back on a plane and flew back to Texas. Tomorrow she leaves Texas again to drive one of her cars to Utah. Just to put Sarah's mind at ease I am showing these photographs and videos of Bryson playing in the driveway and rolling his truck into the street. If you cannot see the videos … [Read more...]

Kaysville City Fire Station Openhouse

Openhouse Today was the Kaysville City's Fire Station Openhouse. Jill and I went along to tour the fire station. It is in no aspect a rickety structure as it is built to withstand earthquakes -- a very handy quality in a building. Fire engines can't put out many fires if they are buried under a mountain of rubble. We took a look at the fire engines and I climbed inside of one. I've never had any desire … [Read more...]

Sprawled Out

This post originally appeared in the Working From Home blog which is no longer operational. My guest writer is Derek Moss of Osmossis. It has been asked, what are the problems with sprawl? There seems to be a lot of benefit from it and the suburban neighborhoods in which we live are quite desirable. What are the problems associated with our current pattern of growth? This is my attempt to answer … [Read more...]
